Me and [info]the_introverted, in anticipation of tomorrow's D&D session. I don't think this fits under any series in this LJ. >_>

Cut for your scroll bar's sake. )

Congrats to [info]ravyn_ashling for her debut in the series. Here's the exchange that happened on Plurk, brought to you by my l33t MS Paint skillze.

A Plurk post of [info]lokeen's said, "[info]lokeen hates how some guys are whipped by their girlfriends."

[info]hamster_friend: In the words of [info]styakool: MAIL PREVAIL! Oops, may mga babae palang nagbabasa nito... :-P

It has occurred to me that it might be more useful to segregate all my writing stuff into one site, like a portfolio or something. Hmm.

Do I simply post onto another LJ account? Or would I be better off sorting it all onto another site altogether like Wordpress or somethin' like that? Hmm-hmm.

More importantly, should I still bring along all those trash poems I coughed up when I was shifting out of Management? X_x

Oh, of course I'm not leaving LJ. I just want someplace to dump all my writing shiz (that way, I won't hafta clutter that shit up on Multiply and LJ anymore).

Bugok Milestone 170: Insecurity Complex

The responses to a Plurk post saying, "[info]lokeen wonders why kids nowadays are so insecure. Hahaha."

way2fukmusikup: because people are so engrossed in the growing standard of beauty
[info]hamster_friend: Huwaw, ang lalim ng unang sagot. Hihirit ko lang sana na nakikiuso pa rin sila sa ka-emohan hanggang ngayon. (LOL)
[info]lokeen: Hahahaha. Okay, I meant insecure about their relationships. Hahahaha.
[info]hamster_friend: Kaya mga bata, wag gawing malabo ang post. Kahit na malabo kausap ang tunay na lalake! (LOL)

Moral of the Story: Insecurity. Serious business.

Y'know when you've got the major quest in pretty flashing colors in your Quest Log, but you just have to do the side-quests earlier so finishing the main one gets that much easier when you finally get to it?

Employment is the main quest, and the papers I've been attending to over the past two days are the annoying side-quests that you do anyway. *bow*

*dodges tomato*

Crappy analogies aside, today actually didn't turn out so bad. Despite the unnecessary delay at the Social Security Shiz (Hah! See? SSS! Good fun!) due to there being no signs whatsoever naming the requirements for the Social Security number, it wasn't bad bad. Amusingly enough, the feeling of being in a long-ass line with only two people at the counter attending to everyone reminded me so much of the OAS at school. Ahh, my Lex lackey days.

After hours of sitting-standing through the line and people getting sent away at the counter for not having the requirements that they weren't told of, the next quest item objective was my TIN. By the time I was done at the SSS t'was around lunchtime though, so I elected to head over to Katipunan (somewhat on the way, since I was headed to the BIR at Cogeo and there're Cogeo-bound jeeps at intersection of Katip and Aurora).

[info]izkariote was around, so I ended up having my lunch while hangin' with her at Kourtyard. And as you all know, anytime two or more people from my F-List here or on Plurk gather for awhile it gets...trippy.

On the way to the jeeps I passed Paul (Bru) at Starbucks, who asked me to hang with 'im for awhile mostly 'coz he wanted to get contacts with LitSoc, since he wants to push the tie-ins between them and the UST LitSoc. He was waiting for Gary (Oz), who he said would probably have directions going to the BIR...so I waited. When Gary did show up I found out that you actually need to get a job first before applying for a TIN, so I ended up going' straight home instead after some more lounging about in trippy company.

Aaaand after all that, it looks like I've managed to aggravate my allergy again. I already had some slight sniffles when I woke up this morning; I probably aggravated it with all the commuting today. I also think I might have made it worse by accidentally wearing a house shirt that I haven't worn in ages (read as: one that has literally collected dust).

Ugh. I just hope this doesn't turn into anything worse. And knowing my family, with the A(H1N1) scare and all they'll probably blow any sign of sickness out of proportion. GAH.

Today was supposed to be my day to get my NBI clearance, TIN and SS number in one fell swoop. I ended up only going for the first of the three since the other two needed my birth certificate. I didn't have that on-hand since it was locked away in El Papa's Magical Attache Case of Paperwork, and I only found out that I needed it after he left for work. See, though practically all family members in the house know said attache case's location and password, unauthorized tampering is a surefire way to get your ass kicked not seven, but eight ways to Sunday.

The closest thing to a highlight for today was finally being able to treat myself to Hong Kong Style Noodles. Yum! me standing in line at the NBI office only to walk in and find out that they needed two ID's for new applicants and exact change (as in, a 100-peso bill and three 5-peso coins) for the transaction. My trip back home got extended longer than usual due to 1. Brother Dearest and I ending up watching Manny Rivera over lunch, and 2. me trying the online application for a TIN, only for it to fail due to site maintenance crap.

Back at the NBI office at Riverbanks, things went pretty smoothly; the line had actually thinned out by the time I got back and seemed to be moving faster. The only real nuisance throughout the thing was this noisy-ass toddler who insisted on shaking the metallic posts for the rails, and whining whenever someone did anything remotely antagonistic towards 'im. Fortunately, his mom eventually had his sister chase him out of the office.

After everything was done (which actually didn't take that long), I made the annoying observation that, despite all the "NEW APPLICANTS BRING 2 VALID ID'S" signs all over, I wasn't asked for my ID's at all throughout the process of getting my clearance.

Oh well, at least that's one employment-related thing done.

Y hallo thar LJ, s'been ages.

Mostly 'coz I don't really have much to blog about these days. The week's been alternating between faffing Not FAPPING you sleazy dirtbags, FAFFING! about at home and school; finals were last Friday, and as expected they weren't as killer as most would think. Either that or Lit Crit exams have jaded me towards lit exams in general.

Let's put it this way: the biggest highlight of my week would be when I stupidly wiped out a week or two's progress in Thief: The Dark Project when I reinstalled it to try and get the cut-scenes playing again. In retrospect, I should've probably taken the "This folder already exists! Overwrite?" note as a warning. Not that it mattered much, since that week's lost progress was promptly taken back in a day. LOL.

Actually, the main reason I haven't been updating lately is that El Papa took the PC to the office for some maintenance stuff last Wednesday and it came back last night. Annoyingly the techies insisted on just running a viruscan instead of the obvious reformat it needed. Yeah, it's running smoother now after that viruscan, but some of the annoying problems from before still pop up every now n' then.

In an hour or so I'll be off to Mandarin for the usual Miss Makati shiz we do every year. Anyone wanna tear Makati up somethin' fierce tonight? 8D

The weekend pretty much went by in one big snore -- I was alternating between: A) fiddling with Distractions and Stuff to Do, and B) sleep. Tons of sleep. I think I slept around half the weekend away; my body was probably whining at me for all the years of not sleeping right. (Then again, who does get enough sleep in this day and age?)

Today was supposed to be wherein I finished up my Long Essay for class; unfortunately the internet was fucking up majorly at home. By the time I did get to school and online, I didn't have enough time to get everything in gear...so I'll be submitting late, and taking the appropriate grade deductions like a man.

Yeah yeah, I know this all would've been avoided if I actually did my paper earlier like a careful student should, but what's done (or rather, isn't) is done.

Besides, karma bit me in the ass for that later today. As I arrived home, I got a text from La Mama telling me to watch Grey's Anatomy for her and tell her about it when she got home (she usually gives such "homework" to my sister, who's been out with her this summer as La Mama's inept little helper). Surprise-surprise, the episode involved a car crash -- in the car, a buncha college students on the way to their graduation. Six of the seven students in the E.R. died by the time the episode was done, a few of 'em somewhat gruesomely.

Not to worry though, I don't intend to mess my hopefully last class up. I will submit my requirements, within the rules of the syllabus.

Last night was the third-best thing that happened to me all summer. XD

I say "third-best" because the first is of course that little reunion last-last Friday, and the second-best would be Deadlands.

But hey, the rankings are by no means representative of how kickass stuff are. After all t'was a grand debut indeed, and hanging with my second generation of children the LEX freshies sophomores is always loads o' cracktastic fun. Everything from the trip there to the post-party shenanigans in the hotel were made of equal parts lulz and win, but last night's true Crowning Moment of Nightmare Fuel Awesome would definitely have to be the debutante's dad dancing to Single Ladies (and getting to the dance floor before anyone else). >_>

So yeah. Thanks to freshman sophomore block O4 for a great night, and tons of special thanks and birthday luffles to our debutante, Rhome.

My one regret is having to leave early (Okay, 3 AM ain't that early~) thanks to having our van in the parking lot; had I pre-empted that the crew'd be sleeping over at the hotel...

Anywhoo, useless learning of the night: When you see a cabbie just waiting somewhere at night and he refuses to take you anywhere far claiming that he's waiting for his "suki," it really means he's getting a hooker. Or in the words of my driver, "Mga pick-up girl inaantay ng mga 'yun." -_-

Sigh. Last day of class. T'was time well-spent, Lit 131 was.

Today began with yesterday's reporters finishing up on Sylvia Plath and her fabulous Elektra complex. And then our last discussion on the sem was on language poetry: our poets for today were Ron Silliman (not to be confused with the university), Charles Bernstein and Bei Dao. To call the ensuing discussion "trippy" is a bit of an understatement. @_@

Crowning Moment of Lol had to be Sir Mark calling Sir Roy out on his age thanks to the George Burns reference in the Bernstein poem we took up. To quote: "Oh God matanda na rin akwoooohh!" <3

So that leaves one long paper, one short paper and one final exam all due next week. Hopefully these'll be my last college requirements EVAR.

As for the rest of today, I'm off to a debut tonight so the rest of you better damn well inform me when Animax's repeat telecast of TTGL is.

All in all, looks like life's getting back on track.

Then suddenly...NINJAS!

Titans, GO!

When [info]brat_pwinces and I first heard of the Book Blockade, her immediate impulse was to try and gather as many people as we could to go on strike and all that jazz. My immediate response was to say that most of the book lovers 'round these parts would rather do their own individual guerrilla tactics and snipe the thing from their own blogs; I commended her passion and all, but I figured that the time wasn't right for people to band together and mobilize against this.

And thus, I stand corrected.

Of course, credit where it's due; t'was [info]the_bumper_car who informed me of this. Kudos to the HGC for their efforts.

I was supposed to type up some rousing words at the end of this post, but sleep would have me do otherwise. Instead, I'll say: CHEERS.

P.S. LitSoc folk, please do check the Book Blockade note I've left on our e-group from last year.

Yeah. As you can tell from the Gon icon above, this is another one of those routine posts where there ain't much goin' on. It's just that, as has been proven by [info]izkariote, this whole Daily Laifu Updaeto thing is really quite...therapeutic.

So. Class today consisted of the report on the Confessional Poets: Allen Ginsberg, Sylvia Plath (yes, that Sylvia Plath) and Louise Gluck (pronounced "Glick," and with two dots over the "u" a la that text smiley). Much lulz to be had indeed, and to the reporters' credit it all looked very well-researched.

The afternoon was the usual puttering about school, hovering between the smockets and comlabs, doing stuff here and there. Nuthin' new to see here.

Because we do it on Plurk.

Y hallo thar LJ, I've just been a bit lazy to get my ass online lately.

So yesterday saw Sir Roy's report on...several things. In particular: Gertrude Stein, Dadaism and Surrealism. TV Tropes has a term for that kinda shit.

After some puttering around school, I was summoned by [info]brat_pwinces -- she wanted to introduce me to a high school friend of hers. So more hanging around, and then home (wherein, as you can all see, I elected not to go online for once).

Today's class was about Po-mo, which as we all know is...just, well. Actually, I strangely find that I get Po-mo a lot more than Modernism (and at some points, more than some of the older stuff like Romanticism or Neoclassicism). In other words, I didn't find Po-mo to be as much of a headtrip as the one before it. Maybe I just spend too much time on TV Tropes.

Fwee, finals next week. Let's hope I'm freer for shenanigans after that. Ironically if all goes well and I have a job by then that actually won't be the case. Lol.

Class today was a free cut (Poor Sir, second time sick and giving us a sudden free cut this summer; get well soon!), so I opted to putter around doing what I usually do -- in addition, I checked up on some important dates for the end of this sem.

Later on I ended up running into Lucy and [info]brat_pwinces at the smocket, which ended up in me hanging with 'em for the rest of the afternoon. Amanda joined in several hours into that, and Gimmy joined us much later at Cantina.

Highlight of today had to be [info]brat_pwinces letting us read some bits from her copy of Good Omens, which is royally high-fuckin-larious. XD
